Berlin Photo Studio · Berlin-Wedding
Film development is technical. A photographic culture is human. Berlin Photo Studio exists where those two things meet.
Why we exist
Berlin Photo Studio is an independent analog photography laboratory, shop and creative space. It began with a simple idea: photography should be accessible, understandable and shared within a community.
In a time when images appear and disappear within seconds, film asks us to slow down. It encourages observation, patience and a deeper connection with the moment. That belief shaped a place where photography can be practised with intention, curiosity and care.
Some people enter with their first exposed roll. Others arrive with an archive, a printing project, a technical problem or years of experience. The studio was built to support all of these paths without ego or gatekeeping.

How we work
Our workflow is handcrafted and semi-automatic. Development, scanning and printing are treated as connected decisions rather than anonymous steps in a production line.
Speed matters, but it is not the only goal. We want to understand the negative, respect the photographer’s intention and make choices that can be explained.
A scan is an interpretation. We work toward a neutral starting point that stays close to the information held in the film.
Questions, mistakes and unexpected results are not interruptions. They are part of building a real photographic practice.
Workshops, conversations, criticism and collaboration continually influence how the laboratory works and improves.
The people behind the work
A job title explains only a fraction of what someone brings. Each profile is a separate space for the person’s practice, background, responsibilities and point of view.

Berlin Photo Studio did not evolve through perfect decisions alone. Every person who worked here, collaborated, taught, challenged an idea, solved a problem or exposed a weakness changed what came next.
This is not a conventional corporate family tree. It is a living map of contributions, lessons and standards. As individual histories are documented, the map will grow without pretending that everybody had the same role or stayed for the same length of time.
Photography, laboratory craft, organisation, design, teaching and care enter the studio through different people.
Workshops, film stocks, scanning methods and community formats begin as tests and become shared knowledge.
Difficult moments expose what needs to be communicated, measured, repaired or changed.
Artists, laboratories, partners and participants connect the space to a wider photographic community.
A changing standard built from everything that came before.
Analog photography is imperfect—and that is exactly why it feels alive.
