Diogo describes himself as someone who enjoys exploring, learning new things and having fun. He does not begin with the idea that he must already be highly creative. Instead, he experiments, asks questions and discovers what becomes possible through practice.
That energy to learn is what he brings to Berlin Photo Studio. Questions are not a weakness here—they are often the first step toward understanding a process well enough to repeat it carefully.
How it started
A workshop opened the laboratory door.
Diogo’s connection with Berlin Photo Studio began after attending a workshop. While talking about his interest in film photography, he received the opportunity to return during the week and continue learning inside the studio.
He now mainly loads film and develops black-and-white rolls. He also joined the latest PolaWalk, connecting laboratory learning with the studio’s wider community activities.

The colour film he has photographed with most often. He uses it with standard C‑41 processing for travel, skateboarding, new places and time with friends.

A defining moment
The first roll developed alone.
Diogo’s strongest memory so far is the first time he developed film by himself in the laboratory. It marked the shift from watching a process to taking responsibility for it.
The collaboration has given him more technical knowledge and even more motivation to photograph. His next goal is to learn how to develop every film format and a wider range of film stocks.
