No. You can drop off film at Berlin Photo Studio from Monday to Saturday, 11:30–19:30. For the fastest intake, place the development or development + scan order online first and bring your order number with the rolls.

We process C-41 colour negative film, ECN-2 cinema film, black-and-white film, E-6 colour slide film and Scala black-and-white reversal film. We use the correct workflow for each process.

Our current estimated turnaround is 3–5 working days for C-41, ECN-2 and black-and-white film; 7–10 working days for E-6; and approximately 2–3 weeks for Scala. Weekends and public holidays are not counted. Mail-in turnaround begins when the film physically arrives at the lab.

These are estimates rather than guaranteed completion dates, because every roll is handled carefully and some films need additional attention.

We accept many formats, including 110, 135/35mm, half-frame, 120, 220, APS and 4×5 sheet film. Availability can depend on the film process and service selected.

Yes. Film does not need to have been purchased from Berlin Photo Studio. Choose the correct process, format and scan option, then bring or mail the exposed roll to us.

Yes, we can process many disposable cameras and half-frame 35mm rolls. Half-frame produces roughly twice as many images, so select the correct option when available or add a clear note to the order.

They are small-batch 35mm films prepared at the studio, including colour cinema stocks and black-and-white films. Each roll is loaded, labelled and checked by the team, and its product page explains the process, ISO and visual character.

C-41 is the standard process for colour-negative photographic film. ECN-2 is designed for cinema film and includes proper removal of the remjet backing found on many motion-picture stocks. We process ECN-2 film in ECN-2 chemistry rather than treating it as ordinary C-41 film.

Yes, when the selected development service offers that option. Choose the required push or pull value while ordering and repeat the instruction clearly on the roll or on a note inside your mail-in package.

Yes, in many cases. Expired film can have colour shifts, fog, reduced sensitivity or no usable images, and unknown film may need to be identified before processing. Development cannot restore information that was never recorded or was lost through age, heat, moisture, light exposure or camera failure.

Some compatible films can be cross-processed as an experimental choice. Results are unpredictable and may include strong colour shifts, unusual contrast or density changes. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the requested combination is safe for our chemistry.

We inspect the developed negative and can often explain whether the likely cause was exposure, loading, the camera, age, light leaks or processing. A correctly performed development service is still complete even when the roll contains no recoverable photographs.

Tell us the film’s box speed, the ISO used in the camera and whether the whole roll was exposed the same way. Depending on the difference and film stock, push or pull development may help, but it cannot correct every exposure mistake.

Yes. The risk increases with faster film, repeated scans and modern CT baggage scanners. Request a hand inspection when possible, carry film in its original packaging and keep unprocessed film out of checked luggage.

Yes. Add the correct service for every roll to the same cart. Keep each roll clearly identifiable and include the order number with mail-in parcels. Turnaround follows the slowest process if everything is returned together.

We use a camera-scanning workflow with a high-resolution digital camera and macro setup. Colour negatives are converted carefully and delivered with a neutral starting point designed to preserve information in the negative instead of applying a heavy automated look.

JPEG is smaller, practical and suitable for sharing, everyday editing and most online use. TIFF creates much larger files and is better when you want more room for intensive editing, printing or long-term archival work. Choose the file type offered on the service product page.

Choose according to the final use. Smaller files work well for phones and social media; higher resolutions are better for cropping, editing and larger prints. The development product page lists the available sizes, and the scanning guide explains what each option is designed for.

We send a digital download link to the email address connected to your order. Check that your address is correct and look in the spam or promotions folders if the message is not visible after the order is marked complete.

Yes, if the negatives are available and suitable for scanning. You can bring or mail previously developed negatives, or ask about a recent order while the negatives are still within the storage period. Rescanning is a separate service.

Contact us with your order number, twin number and the exact frame filenames. A screenshot helps us understand the issue quickly. We will compare the digital file with the negative to determine whether the cause comes from the scan, the film, the camera or development.

Download links are temporary. Download the files promptly, check that the folder is complete and save at least two backups. Berlin Photo Studio is not a permanent cloud archive for delivered scans.

Often, yes. Framing and file count vary by format, and some panoramic or non-standard negatives need a custom scan. Add a note to the order or contact us with a photo of the negative before purchasing.

Yes, we accept mail-in orders from European countries and selected international destinations. Check the available destination and return-shipping options at checkout. Send film in a well-sealed, sturdy parcel and consider customs requirements when shipping from outside the European Union.

Place rolls in a resealable bag or protective container, keep a clearly written order note with them, add cushioning and use a sturdy padded envelope or box. Sheet film must remain inside a fully light-safe holder or envelope marked “Open only in the dark.” Tracked shipping is strongly recommended.

Carrier delivery scans and physical handover do not always happen at the same moment. After arrival, the parcel also needs to be opened and matched to your order. If you are concerned, contact us with the order number and tracking link so the team can check it.

Yes, when negative return or return shipping is included in the order. Otherwise, negatives can be collected at the studio during the storage period. Please make sure the return address entered at checkout is complete and correct.

Yes. Ordering first gives the lab the process, scan and return instructions needed to match the parcel correctly. Put your order number, full name, email and any essential film notes inside the package.

Yes. One parcel can contain multiple rolls and processes as long as every service is included in the online order. Count the rolls before sealing the package and keep a photograph of the contents for your records.

The sender chooses the carrier and packaging for the inbound journey. Use secure packaging and tracked shipping, especially for irreplaceable film. Processing begins only after the parcel is physically received and matched to the order.

Yes. Negatives remain yours. Choose collection or an available return-shipping option when ordering. Film is the original physical record of your photographs, so we strongly recommend collecting or returning it.

Developed negatives are stored for two months from the completion date. After that period, uncollected negatives may be permanently disposed of. The full policy governs if information on another page differs.

If the chosen product offers a “no cut” option, select it when ordering. Otherwise, write the request clearly in the order notes and on any note placed with a mail-in order. Contact us before processing if the request is essential to your workflow.

Yes, with clear permission from the customer and enough information for us to identify the order. Bring the order or twin number and the customer’s name. For privacy and safety, the team may ask for additional confirmation.

Keep negatives clean, dry, cool and away from direct sunlight. Use archival sleeves rather than ordinary plastic, avoid touching the image area and label sleeves with the date, film stock and subject.

Most practical workshops last around 3–4 hours. Because the lab operates during the day, many private sessions are scheduled in the morning or evening. The exact time and duration are shown on the workshop page or agreed with the team.
