Why develop cinema film in ECN-2?
ECN-2 is the process designed for colour motion-picture negative film. Unlike standard C-41 processing, it includes proper removal of the black remjet backing and uses chemistry and temperature control intended for cinematic stocks. The result preserves the film’s characteristic colour palette, wide exposure latitude and smooth highlight roll-off.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between ECN-2 and C-41?
ECN-2 is designed for motion-picture colour negative film and includes removal of its remjet backing. C-41 is the standard process for consumer colour negative film. Cross-processing can change contrast and colour, so choose ECN-2 when you want the cinema stock’s intended rendering.
What is remjet?
Remjet is a dark anti-halation and protective backing used on many cinema films. It must be removed correctly during processing; it should not be sent through a standard minilab without confirmation.
Can you process half-frame, panoramic, 120 and 4×5 film?
Yes. The live service options cover standard 135, half-frame, panoramic 135, 120 medium format and 4×5 large format.
Can you push or pull ECN-2 film?
Yes. Push and pull options are available for an additional €2. Select the required exposure adjustment when ordering and label your roll clearly.
How long does ECN-2 processing take?
The usual turnaround is 3–5 working days. Complex orders or unusually high lab volume may take longer.
Should I choose JPEG or TIFF scans?
JPEG is convenient for sharing, archiving and most editing workflows. TIFF provides a larger, less compressed file for extensive colour work and high-quality printing. You can also explore our other film scanning services.
