EDIT · SEQUENCE · PUBLISH

Turn photographs into a publication.

Move from a folder of images to an edit, sequence, format and physical zine dummy with a clear purpose.

Self-publishing and photography zine-making workshop at Berlin Photo Studio
Why learn this?

The process changes how you understand the photograph.

A zine is more than photographs placed in order. Image selection, rhythm, repetition, text, paper, scale and binding decide how another person experiences the work.

This guide prepares you for the session. The live product page remains the source for current booking options, availability, inclusions and price.

Inside the workshop

Four connected stages.

01

Define

Clarify the project, audience and reason for making the publication.

02

Edit

Remove repetition and select images that work together rather than only individually.

03

Sequence

Build pace, relationships, pauses and transitions across pages.

04

Prototype

Choose format and make a physical or digital dummy before production.

Who it is for

Begin where you are.

Questions that matter.

Do I need a finished project?

No. The workshop can help identify what is missing, but bringing a coherent group of images makes editing more productive.

Will we print a complete edition?

The selected product option defines the scope. A working dummy and production decisions may be more useful than rushing directly into a full run.

Can the workshop cover text?

Text, captions and project framing can be considered where they support the publication.

Can teams make a collective zine?

Yes. A custom version can be designed around shared contributions, a workshop theme or an organisation’s archive.
