Travel, parking, venue access and waiting are part of elapsed coverage even when no photographs are being made. Map the route between preparations, ceremony and reception and allow for gathering people. A short portrait list can still run late if relatives have left for the next location. Share the final timetable with the photographer before confirming the duration.
Why continuous coverage tells a calmer story
As a planning example, a ceremony, group photographs and nearby couple portraits might fit a compact booking, while preparations through evening celebrations require substantially longer coverage. The exact duration depends on the event. Ask what happens if the schedule overruns, whether overtime is available and how it is charged; do not rely on an assumed extension.
