Rollei 35 S – Pocket-Sized Precision with a Sonnar Lens

The Rollei 35 S is one of the smallest full-frame 35mm cameras ever made. Its compact metal body hides a superb Rollei-HFT Sonnar 40mm f/2.8 lens, combining true pocketability with the rendering and manual control expected from a serious film camera.

This is a fully manual, zone-focus camera. You set the focus distance, shutter speed and aperture yourself, while the built-in match-needle meter helps with exposure. It is an excellent companion for street photography, travel and photographers who enjoy slowing down without carrying a larger SLR.

Condition and availability

In Stock: the photographed camera is the actual item. It presents in very good cosmetic condition, with clean covering and only light age-related wear visible in the photographs. As with every vintage camera sold by Berlin Photo Studio, it is checked before handover or dispatch.

Pre-Order: we source another Rollei 35 S for you, then inspect and prepare it before dispatch. Sourcing normally takes approximately 3–4 working weeks. Cosmetic appearance and serial number will vary, but the camera will be supplied in fully functional shooting condition.

Important vintage-camera note

The original meter was designed for a 1.35V PX625 mercury battery, which is no longer manufactured. A compatible modern solution or voltage adapter may be required for accurate metering. The camera itself remains mechanically operable without a battery.
