Start with the photograph. Then choose the size.

An old photo does not need to remain a small print in an album. A careful scan can create a new digital source for an enlargement. The realistic result depends on the original photograph: fine detail, focus, fading, surface texture and damage all become more visible as the print grows.

Have a paper photograph?

Bring the best surviving print and tell us the size you have in mind. Loose photo prints up to A4 can use our flatbed scanning service; albums, fragile photographs and larger originals need assessment first.

Scanning, any digital restoration and the final print are separate stages. Ask for a quotation covering the complete workflow before ordering an enlargement from an old original.

Already have a digital file?

Use the original scan or full-resolution image whenever possible. A screenshot, social-media download or messaging-app copy may have lost useful detail. Tell us the intended dimensions and whether borders are acceptable.

We consider the final cropped pixel dimensions and viewing distance. Changing the DPI label or enlarging a file does not create detail that was absent from the source.

Available large photo print sizes.

Current large-format options include 40 × 60, 50 × 70, 60 × 90, 70 × 100 and 100 × 150 cm. The printing product lists the paper option and current price for each size. These are available output formats, not a guarantee that every original will look good at the largest size.

40 × 60 · 50 × 70 · 60 × 90 · 70 × 100 · 100 × 150 cm

Composition matters: 40 × 60, 60 × 90 and 100 × 150 cm use a 3:2 ratio; 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm have different proportions. Agree cropping or borders before printing so faces, handwriting and important edges are not unintentionally lost.

From original to print
01

Choose the image

Send the full-resolution file or show us the physical original. Include the intended print size, deadline and display location.

02

Assess scan and restoration

For an old print, agree digitisation and any repair first. Keep the unretouched scan and restored version separate if that is part of your archive plan.

03

Confirm the composition

Agree size, orientation, crop or borders and the selected paper option. A screen and a physical print will not look identical.

04

Order and receive

For ready files, choose a size, upload images and set the matching quantity. Repeat for other sizes, then select collection or shipping.

Plan the whole journey to paper.

Current sizes, paper options and prices are listed on the printing product. The stated printing turnaround is 5–7 working days; digitisation, restoration and shipping add their own timing. Confirm the full schedule before ordering for a birthday, exhibition or other fixed date.

FAQ

Before ordering a large print.

Can you enlarge an old family photo without a negative?

Yes, a surviving paper print can be scanned and assessed for enlargement. The best achievable size depends on its condition and actual detail. Send an overview and your target dimensions before ordering.

How large can you print an old photograph?

The printing service offers sizes up to 100 × 150 cm. Whether a particular photograph is suitable at that size must be assessed from the original or full-resolution scan. Sometimes a smaller print gives a more convincing result.

Is scanning included in the print price?

Photo-print scanning and digital restoration are separate services. When starting from a physical photograph, request a quotation covering the required steps as well as the final print.

Should the photograph be restored before it is enlarged?

If scratches, tears or fading distract from the image, digital restoration can help. Enlargements also enlarge visible damage. We discuss the level of work and realistic result before proceeding.

Can you print a restored photograph in black and white?

A finished black-and-white digital image can be used for photo printing. Discuss the intended tone and contrast when preparing the file. Digital printing from a scan differs from a traditional darkroom print made directly from a physical negative.

Will the full image fit the paper?

Only if the image and paper have matching proportions. Otherwise the image needs cropping or borders. Decide this before printing, especially for portraits, group photographs and images with notes near the edge.

Can you print from a phone or WhatsApp image?

A phone’s original full-resolution photograph may be suitable. A compressed message attachment or screenshot can limit the achievable size. Use the original file or physical photograph if available and request assessment before a large print.

Will the print look exactly like my screen?

No. Screens emit light and paper reflects it. Brightness, colour, room lighting and the chosen paper affect the result. If an exact reproduction or critical exhibition result matters, discuss the requirements before ordering.

How long does scanning, restoration and printing take?

The listed print production time is 5–7 working days. A project starting from an old photograph also needs time for scanning and any restoration. Confirm the total project schedule and delivery arrangements with the studio.

Which photograph deserves more space?

Send the best available version and your preferred print size. We can discuss the steps from the original to the finished print.
