Visual packing guide

Pack your film in five clear steps

Use these photographs as a reference before closing your parcel. The goal is simple: make every roll identifiable, moisture-resistant and protected from impact.

Film rolls, handwritten order notes, protective materials and a mailer prepared for posting to Photo Studio Berlin
Step 01Gather the rolls, order details and packing materials.
Writing the order number, film stock and push-processing instructions on a note for mail-in film development
Step 02Write the order number and special processing instructions.
Film rolls and a light-safe sheet-film envelope protected with bubble wrap before shipping
Step 03Keep notes with the correct rolls and wrap them together.
Protected film rolls and a labelled light-safe envelope arranged on a sturdy cardboard mailer
Step 04Use cushioning plus a rigid cardboard mailer or box.
Bubble-wrapped film being placed inside a sturdy cardboard envelope for secure mail-in development
Step 05Place the protected bundle inside and seal every edge.
SHEET FILM
Keep 4×5 and other sheet film inside a fully light-safe holder or envelope. Label it clearly with “Open only in the dark” and never rely on bubble wrap alone for light protection.
Packing station

Give every roll a safe journey

Film is small, but irreplaceable. A few minutes of careful packing helps protect it before it reaches our hands.

Put this inside

  • Your Shopify order number, written clearly on a separate note.
  • Your name and email address so we can match the parcel to the order.
  • The number of rolls and the service ordered for each one.
  • Clearly marked push/pull requests and any special scanning instructions.
  • Film inside a resealable bag or protective container, cushioned against movement.
  • A sturdy padded envelope or box, sealed securely on every edge.
Keep your postal receipt and tracking number until we confirm arrival.

Avoid these

  • Loose rolls in a thin paper envelope.
  • Tape or labels directly on film, cassettes or exposed backing paper.
  • Cash or handwritten payment details.
  • Packages requiring collection from a parcel locker or pickup point.
  • Unprotected sheet film outside a light-safe holder or box.

Questions, answered

Everything essential for sending film from elsewhere in Germany, the EU or further abroad.

Can I send film from outside Germany?

Yes, from the EU and selected international destinations. Check your carrier’s rules and include any required customs declaration. Duties, taxes and customs fees remain the sender’s responsibility.

When does the turnaround time begin?

When your film physically arrives at the lab. Transit time to Berlin is separate from the processing estimate.

Should I use tracked shipping?

Yes. We strongly recommend tracking because the sender is responsible for the parcel until it reaches the lab.

Can I combine different processes?

Yes. Order the matching service for every roll and label each roll clearly so C-41, B&W, ECN-2, E-6 and Scala instructions cannot be confused.

How will I receive my scans?

Scans are delivered digitally by email/download link. Download and back them up promptly after delivery.

How long do you keep negatives?

Developed negatives are stored for two months after completion. After that period, uncollected negatives may be permanently disposed of unless storage is extended.

How do I request push or pull processing?

Add the instruction to the order and mark the corresponding roll clearly. If you are unsure whether your process supports it, contact us before shipping.

How do I ask about my order?

Use your order number and email info@photostudioberlin.com. Order updates are sent automatically by email; please do not use Instagram or personal messages for order support.
