35mm Film Explained: Format, Exposures and Cameras

Standard 35mm still film uses a 24×36mm frame, although half-frame and panoramic cameras use the same film differently.

A cassette normally contains 24 or 36 exposures and can be used in compact cameras, rangefinders and SLRs.

Development and scanning

The format does not determine chemistry. Check whether the film is C-41, ECN-2, B&W, E-6 or another process.
