Customer care · Film lab complaints and resolution
When something goes wrong, we follow the evidence.
Film is physical, personal and sometimes irreplaceable. A delay, unclear message or unexpected result can therefore feel heavier than an ordinary purchase problem. Berlin Photo Studio uses the process below to separate facts from assumptions and find the fairest practical solution.
How we investigate a film-lab complaint
Connect the message to the order
We confirm the order number, customer details, film format, process, requested scan and the internal twin number used to track the physical roll.
Inspect the available evidence
Depending on the issue, we review the negatives, scan files, export folders, intake information, process records, packaging photos and relevant communication.
Separate camera, film, process and scan causes
We explain what the evidence shows in plain language. Underexposure, light leaks, expired film, camera transport faults, airport damage, development marks and scan choices leave different traces.
Offer the appropriate next step
Where relevant, this can include a corrected download, rescan, additional inspection, service correction, replacement, refund or another proportionate remedy.
Common situations
A delivery is later than expected
Normal turnaround is usually 3–5 working days for C-41, ECN-2 and black-and-white, and 7–10 working days for E-6 and Scala. These are working estimates, not an automatic guarantee. If an order needs more time, we check its physical and digital status before giving an update.
The scans look wrong
We first compare the digital file with the negative. If useful information is present in the film, a rescan or adjusted export may help. If the negative itself is thin, dense, scratched, fogged or uneven, the scan can show the problem but cannot recreate missing photographic information.
A roll or file appears missing
We trace the order through the twin number, intake details, physical storage, export folders and delivery record. Multiple rolls can travel under one order, so each roll is checked individually.
Communication felt rude or defensive
Customers can ask for the matter to be reviewed again in writing. The goal is to return to the order facts, clarify what was misunderstood and agree on the remaining practical action.
A negative review was posted
The review can remain public and the order investigation continues normally. Berlin Photo Studio may answer publicly to correct factual information, but personal data and private order details are not published.
How to request a review
Email info@photostudioberlin.com with the subject Order review. Include the order number, your full name, the film or service involved, what you expected, what happened and the outcome you are requesting. Attach examples only when they are necessary to understand the issue.
For film problems, keep the negatives available. They are often the most useful evidence.
Frequently asked questions
Will a negative review delay my scans or negatives?
No. Paid work and complaint handling remain separate from public reviews.
Can every scan problem be fixed?
No. A scan can be adjusted or repeated when the negative contains usable information, but it cannot restore detail the film never recorded.
What if the camera caused the problem?
We can explain the visual signs and recommend a camera test or repair. Film development cannot correct a shutter, transport, focus or light-seal fault.
What if Berlin Photo Studio made the mistake?
We document what happened and offer a proportionate correction based on the service and the available evidence.
Will private order details be posted publicly?
No. A public response should remain general. Personal data, private messages and identifiable order evidence stay within the customer-service process.
