The number of products is only one part of a photography quote. Materials, required views, styling and retouching determine how much work each finished image needs.
Why two products can require very different shooting times
A plain cardboard box can share one lighting setup with the rest of a range. A polished steel bottle needs reflections shaped around its surface, while transparent glass may need separate light for its edges and label. Count these setup changes as well as the number of products. Ten similar objects can take less time than three unrelated materials.
How shot count and retouching affect the final quote
A quote should distinguish selected photographs from shutter clicks. Front, back, detail and lifestyle views each require preparation and editing. Dust removal, label repair, composites and colour matching add different amounts of retouching. Request separate descriptions of capture, styling, post-production and delivery so that a lower total does not conceal a smaller finished image set.
Which information to send before asking for an estimate
Send a product list with dimensions, quantities, material and colour variants. Attach reference pictures, required views, intended channels, launch date and whether products will be delivered or collected. Identify the person approving the first test image. If the budget is fixed, mark essential shots separately from optional ones; the photographer can then propose a realistic order of priorities.
