What to test before leaving home
Test the camera, lenses, batteries, cards and flash trigger as a complete system. Check that the trigger works with the lights you plan to use and pack the required adapters. Prepare a shot list, contact sheet of references and a list of essential combinations. A backup battery is only useful if it is charged and compatible.
How to organise files and tethering
Create the project folder before the session and decide how files will be named and backed up. If tethering, test the cable, software and camera connection before travel. Keep cables out of walking routes and agree who may approve images on the screen. Do not erase camera cards until copies have been checked.
Which small accessories most often stop a shoot
Pack the small items that support your actual setup: chargers, cables, clamps, cleaning cloths, a card reader and suitable tape for agreed studio use. Bring styling or product-handling tools where needed. Check the room and equipment when you arrive, report existing damage and leave time to return everything safely before the booking ends.
