C-41 is the standard colour-negative process used by many Kodak, Fujifilm, Lomography and other photographic films.
How to recognise it
35mm cassettes usually state C-41 clearly. On 120 film, check the wrapper or backing-paper information. Do not identify a roll only by its colour or brand.
Why it matters
Correct chemistry controls dye formation, contrast and stability. Unknown film should be inspected rather than guessed.

- Photograph the cassette and box
- Keep wrappers for unusual film
- Check whether the roll was respooled
- Tell the lab if it is cinema-derived
- Do not open the cassette
